In March 2024, the University of Lausanne launched a new entity aiming to generate and support partnership research projects, a practice that already existed but was lacking structure and institutional recognition. The coordinator contacted me ahead of the launch and we began working together by producing a video to be shown at the launch event. During the same conference, I captured the various speeches in graphic recording format and continued my interpretation by reading the Post-its of the participants to complete the fresco afterwards. To illustrate the website, which went online at the same time, I extracted drawings from previous projects, and we added customised illustrations.
It was a fantastic opportunity to work on three formats—video, graphic recording, and illustrations—in a single project and be involved in the process from the outset. This enabled us to develop a complementary visual harmony between the various communication media. This provided genuine satisfaction to the client and substantial fluidity in the management of the process.
I received many positive feedbacks. The video helped the people to understand and embrace this new entity and methodology for managing partnership research in the university. The graphic recording, which I presented orally during the closing session, had the usual "wow effect" and gave a creative note that was perfectly consistent with Interface's philosophy, which is to encourage a renewal in the practices of research to make knowledge more accessible to everyone. Visual popularisation and the academic world make a lovely marriage.
